Receiving email in your Inbox
Get an address from Nazzam, forward your support mail to it, and every message becomes a conversation your team can assign and answer.
Receiving email in your Inbox#
Your Inbox can receive real email. A customer writes to your support address, and the message appears in Nazzam as a conversation — assigned to somebody, sitting next to that customer's record.
Setting it up#
Go to Settings → Inbox and choose Get an address.
Nazzam gives you an address that looks something like:
acme-4f2c91@inbox.nazzam.org
Copy it. Then, in whatever runs your current support mailbox — Gmail, Outlook, your web host — set up forwarding to that address. Every mail provider has this; it is usually under Settings → Forwarding.
That is the whole setup. There is no DNS to change, nothing to install, and no technical person required.
Keep your existing address on your website and your business cards. Customers write to the address they always did; forwarding quietly hands it to Nazzam.
What happens when a message arrives#
- It becomes a conversation in your Inbox.
- If the sender matches a contact you already have, the conversation is linked to them, so their history is one click away.
- Your routing rules decide who it goes to.
- That person gets a notification, and the Inbox shows it as unread.
Replies keep the thread#
When you reply from Nazzam, the customer sees it as part of the same email conversation they started — not as a new message out of nowhere. When they reply again, it comes back into the same conversation here rather than starting a second one.
That works even if they change the subject line, or reply days later.
Attachments#
Files the customer attaches appear under the message and can be downloaded.
Two things are deliberately not kept:
- Files over 4 MB. The same limit applies everywhere in Nazzam.
- Programs. Anything that could be run — .exe, .bat, .js and similar — is never stored, whatever it claims to be.
In both cases you still see that a file was sent and why it is not there, so you are never answering a customer about a document you did not know existed. If you need a large file, ask them to send a link.
Is it safe to open a message from a stranger?#
Yes. Email can contain hidden code, so Nazzam strips it out before showing you anything: scripts, tracking gadgets, hidden forms and anything that tries to run. What is left is the message.
That is also why an email might look plainer here than in a normal mail client — its layout and colours are part of what gets removed.
Pausing or removing an address#
The Receiving / Paused switch stops new mail arriving without throwing anything away — useful while a team is away.
Deleting an address stops mail arriving at it for good. Conversations it already created stay in your Inbox.
If something does not arrive#
Check, in this order:
- The address is Receiving, not paused, in Settings → Inbox.
- Forwarding is actually switched on in your other mail provider — most require you to confirm it by clicking a link they email you.
- You forwarded to the exact address shown in Nazzam.
If all three are right and mail still is not arriving, contact us: we can see whether a message reached us and what happened to it, without reading its contents.
